Being **Cameroon's leading wire rope steel supplier** means taking responsibility for the safety of the people who work under suspended loads. That is why CML SARL insists on correct selection, documentation and good practice in every supply. A good rope can fail early without inspection and lubrication. This article summarises the inspection routine, lubrication practices and discard criteria recommended by CML SARL. ### Inspection frequency - **Daily / pre-use:** visual check by the operator of the visible rope length, terminations and spooling - **Periodic:** detailed inspection by a competent person, at intervals set by the risk assessment and regulations - **Special:** after an incident, overload, long idle period or before returning equipment to service ### What to look for - Broken wires, especially grouped in one strand or near terminations - Reduction of diameter compared with the reference measurement - External and internal corrosion - Deformations: kinks, birdcaging, core protrusion, flattening, waviness - Heat damage or electrical arc marks - Condition of terminations, thimbles, ferrules and sockets ### Discard criteria ISO 4309 provides discard criteria based on the number of visible broken wires over a defined length, diameter reduction, corrosion and deformation. Any kink, birdcage, core protrusion or significant diameter loss requires immediate removal. When in doubt, take the rope out of service. ### Lubrication in tropical climates In hot, humid cl...
